QUALIFICATIONS
1) Valid Arkansas Drivers
License and/or Commercial Drivers License,
as required.
2) At least 21years old.
3) Acceptable Driving Record.
4) Demonstrate safe driving
skills, knowledge, and practices.
5) Able to meet physical
requirements for Persons Who Will Transport
Clients/Passengers.
6) First Aid/CPR certification.
7) Negative TB test.
8) Negative drug and alcohol
results.
9) Willing to attend Focus, Inc.
in-house training.
GENERAL DUTIES
1)
Transport participants safely to and from the Program,
Therapy, Field Trip Activities, Medical Appointments, etc, or other
trips designated by the Transportation Supervisor, and/or Program
Supervisors.
2)
Observe all safety regulations and obey all laws (see below).
3)
Assist participants on and off the vehicle, as needed.
4)
Maintain optimum operating conditions of the vehicle,
including a clean and litter-free interior and regular, routine
maintenance (see below)
5)
Complete all regular reports on vehicle maintenance and trip
logs daily.
6)
Participate in required training.
7)
Assist program staff with participants on field trips as
required.
8)
Facilitate communication between home and program by
delivering notes, request, and responses, and by contacting families
of ill participants when necessary
CLEANLINESS OF VAN
1)
Pick up trash and clean up spills every day.
2)
Wash van inside and outside once a week. Do not take to a
professional car wash unless you have permission from the
Transportation Supervisor.
3)
Unusually large and/or dangerous messes need to be handled as
soon as possible. Bodily fluids are considered dangerous, and are to
be removed carefully, by staff member’s only, using disinfectant and
latex gloves.
4)
Child safety seats and adult seats must be cleaned with
disinfectant once a week.
VAN MAINTENANCE
1)
Oil change, filter and lube are to be completed ever 3,000
miles.
2)
Air filter is to be changed every 10,000 miles.
3)
Transmission fluid is to be changed every 15,000 miles.
4)
Cooling system is drained, flushed, and refilled every 15,000
miles.
5)
Hoses and belts are replaced every 3 years.
6)
Tires are replaced as needed.
7)
Tir3e4 pressure is within 5 pounds of manufacturer
recommendations.
8)
P.V.C. valve is serviced every 15,000 miles.
9)
Tires are rotated at the 5,000 mile mark and every 15,000
miles thereafter.
10)
Brakes (disc, drum, and parking) are inspected every 15,000
miles.
11)
First aid kit is complete and present in the van.
12)
Fire extinguisher works and is present in the van.
13)
Emergency road kit (flares sign, etc.) is complete and
present in the van.
SAFETY
1)
Every consumer, child or adult, is correctly buckled into the
appropriate seat belt or child safety seat. Any van driver who
violates this rule is subject to immediate termination!
2)
Any broken safety seat is immediately reported to the
Transportation Supervisor. A broken safety seat must never be
used, even if this requires extra trips to be made.
3)
The van driver must walk through the van at the end of each
route to ensure that no participant has been left on the van. Any
van driver who violates this rule is subject to immediate
termination!
4)
The van driver is responsible for obeying all traffic laws,
including speed laws, obeying traffic signals, making full stops at
railroad crossings, keeping to the right except to pass, using the
horn properly, signaling properly, lowering high beams
appropriately, using fog lights appropriately, turning on the lights
every time the windshield wipers are used, and all other laws. In
addition, drivers are expected to exercise extra caution while
driving, i.e., never try to bear a yellow light always cede the
right of way if there is any doubt, etc., and to be courteous to
parent, law officers, road crew or anyone else that they meet in the
course of their duties.
